About the challenge

The Slingshot Workshop invites students to build real-world AI solutions that address everyday problems in sustainability, workforce skilling, and community well-being. Over the course of this hands-on workshop, participants will move from ideation to a working prototype, gaining job-ready skills and a portfolio piece that stands out to employers and college admissions committees.

Requirements

What to Build

Build a working prototype of an AI-powered solution that addresses a specific problem affecting your community, family, or daily life. Your prototype can use generative AI for content creation, agentic AI for multi-step actions, or both. The solution should demonstrate clear problem identification, thoughtful AI design, and a user-focused approach. This is a functional prototype, not just a concept, that shows how AI can make a real difference.

What to Submit

Submit your complete project package through Devpost, including: a working prototype link (GitHub repo, website, or hosted app), a short demo video (2-3 minutes) explaining your problem and solution, a README file detailing what you built and how you used AI, and a promotional blog post (2-3 paragraphs) sharing your problem, solution, and key learnings. All materials should be polished and ready for your portfolio and potentially for external competitions like the Intel Impact Festival or Call for Code Hackathon.
